The temple of Christ the Savior
The temple of Christ the Savior
The Cathedral of the Moscow diocese, and the Russian Orthodox Church. The decision to build it "in commemoration of our gratitude to Divine Providence for saving Russia from threatening to it death" was adopted by Emperor Alexander I in 1812. The temple was laid in1839 on the site of Alexis nunnery. In 1883, it was regarded as the highest building in Moscow and the biggest church in Russia. In 1931 the cathedral was blown up by order of Stalin. It was rebuilt only by the 2000 year.

St. Basil's Cathedral, or Pokrovsky Cathedral, is one of the most famous churches in Moscow, and in many people's opinion is a symbol of the capital and of Russia as a whole. St. Basil's was built in 1555-1561, and attracts attention to this day with its unusual architecture. Currently Pokrovsky Cathedral is a part of the State History Museum.

Monument to Ilya Repin (sculptor – M. Manizer, architect – I. Rozhin) was opened on September 29, 1958 on a square named after Repin on Bolotnaya embankment, opposite the pedestrian bridge of Luzhkov. The pedestal is placed deep in the picturesque park near the river, where an elegant bridge that connects Bolotnaya Square with Lavrushinsky Lane is now built. M: Tretyakovskaya.
